WYOMING AND THE WEST Thursday, December 5, 1996 ml C2 Casper Star-Tribune -t Obituary PLANE Survey suggests women staunch protectors of Mother Earth Mesa had owned the plane, but she said the company has been getting new DH-8's on a regular basis. Pitcher said she didn't know why Mesa executives could not be reached for comment the night of the incident. FAA officials in Fort Worth, Texas and in Casper will continue their investigation, which is expected to last about 60 days, according to FAA spokesman Mitch Barker. "We'll get information from Mesa and from our FAA people down there (in Fort Worth) and determine what appears to have occurred, based on all the facts," Barker said on air quality, 12 percent of the men said regulation has gone too far compared to 4 percent of the women. In each case, the remainder said the balance was about right or they didn't know, according to the poll, which had a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

"We tend to think of the gender gap as having to do mostly with women's rights kinds of concerns, with abortion or whatever. But here it is showing up as an environmental concern," Kevin Coyle, president of the foundation, said in an interview. "Men also are pro-environment, but there are some pretty definite differences. Women are more pro-environment and policy makers ought to understand that if they want to close any gender gap," said Coyle, former president of the river conservation group, American Rivers. Conversely, 51 percent of the women and 38 percent of the men said government regulation of the environment has not gone far enough, according to the poll commissioned by the National Environmental Education and Training Foundation, a non-profit group based in Washington D.C.
